I dont have a blog other than these articles on www.blog.m6.net which is the blog site of the company that I work for. Ive started a few, same as Ive started to keep a diary a few times, but I just dont stick with them. Perhaps deep down I doubt anyone cares about my day-to-day life, and Im not anxious to post my deep and intense innermost feelings. I dont wear my heart on my sleeve, and I dont want to post it on the Internet.
However, for those of a blogger bent who want to share their lives with others, its an excellent idea. You can share your life with the world, letting people on other continents know what its like to live where you live, and what its like to be who you are. Blogs are good for non-bloggers too, letting people on the other side of an issue, or a war, or the planet, read about what life is like on your side. A few years ago I met a woman with a terrible secret which sounded like some insane conspiracy theory. I tried to organize a blog for her since she wanted to share her information, and because I wanted to hear about any further developments. Sadly, I was unable to set it up that day and subsequently lost touch with her.
Oddly enough, blogs have grown beyond being a window into the bloggers life, becoming more in the realm of entertainment. A blogger friend of mine wont be able to write in her blog for two weeks. If it were just a diary she could just say, See you in two weeks. Instead, she is having two guest bloggers fill in. Isnt a guest blogger like putting two chapters of someone elses autobiography in the middle of your own? I assume that the guest bloggers will give a window into THEIR own lives, and I suspect, theyve already proven themselves to her in their own blogs, so her readers could simply read their blogs for two weeks. Clearly blogs are more involved than I realized.
Blogs can make you famous or let you be anonymous. You can vent your concerns about yourself to an anonymous world. Or, you can get help from strangers who may judge you but wont be able to tell anyone you know what their judgment is. This is of course unless your friends read your blog, which I consider as part of the point of having a blog. Then they will read your venting, and any strangers replies to it no matter how judgmental they are. On the other side of the equation, your friends can help without you having to go through the trauma of telling them directly. Plus, any of the strangers reading your blog might notice something wrong that you arent aware of. A medical student might tell you what the tingling in the soles of your feet might mean so that you can consult a doctor before it gets more serious. A German housewife might notice that alcohol features more and more in your life, or that you seem to be shifting between joy and sorrow with worrying regularity. More than a window on someones life or simple entertainment, blogs are another way to connect with both friends and strangers, anywhere, anytime.

Online purchases in Canada totaled about $8.5 million Canadian dollars in 2004. Most of these items included books and reservations for travel and lodging. Only thirty-six percent of Canadian businesses have a website presence. The adoption for small, medium, and large businesses is slowly increasing at a rate of two to three percentage points. The rapid advances in technology have resulted in consumer confidence in private data protection, increasing the online sales.
E-commerce is a way of doing consumer-oriented business transactions over the Internet. This is actually retailing in the Internet format. Just as in a supermarket, online consumers choose products by navigating the site along the categories of products and make payments online using credit cards. The products are then delivered within a certain period.
Web hosting is one of the links in the e-commerce process. The chain is formed by different links such as websites, shopping processes, credit card processing, and merchant accounts. Websites are hosted by an external provider or perhaps the business itself. The shopping process is actually a shopping cart that allows the selection of products just like placing the products in a supermarket cart. When the customer finalizes the buying process by filling in the credit card form, the credit card is processed to check the validity of the card. The processed information is sent to a merchant, who credits to the account of the business.
The value of web hosting lies in providing the seamless transfer of the process between various links. The web host could also add value by designing the site for the shopping cart and processing the credit card. It could also provide value-added information about the e-commerce process to the clients in order to make the process clear.
The value addition in the chain puts web hosting services at $200 and more. Many web hosting providers have combined with credit card processors to add value. Some of the main issues in deciding on an e-commerce host are bandwidth, security, back-end integration, reliability, and server set up.

July 31st, 2008 by admin in Networking For Business
You will meet many people while you network. It can be challenging not only for you to remember others but for others to remember you. You need to make yourself stand out in a positive way. You may get lost in the crowd if you dont take this seriously.
Be creative and try several ideas. Some will work better than others. Make sure you put in the appropriate amount of time to work on your image. You want to come across as a professional who cares about the ways others perceive you.
Focus on branding yourself rather than your company. If people think highly of you, they will think highly of your organization. As you move from company to company, you want people to remember you more than they remember your company.
Personalize Your Communication
Use a personal e-mail address that will serve as a permanent e-mail. One solution is to buy your own domain name for your last name or a combination of your first and last names. You can have this e-mail forwarded to whatever e-mail system you are using at work.
As an alternative, use an e-mail address created by services such as Yahoo! or Hotmail. Whatever e-mail you decide to use, make sure its easy for people to remember and make sure its professional.
By using a personal e-mail address, people will always be able to contact you no matter where you work. It can be difficult to let people know every time you change jobs.
Take it a step further and create a personal Web site using your own domain name. Not only should you brand yourself on this site with your qualifications and skills but also offer some valuable content. Try to make your site a resource for others in your industry or those who have a similar interest to you.
Create personalized note cards with your name (and e-mail address if you want to reinforce how to contact you). A stationary store can create these for you. This could include matching envelopes with your address.
These cards can be used to send handwritten notes to people for a number of reasons (such as a thank you for a job interview or business lead). You can also use these cards as a follow up after meeting someone at a networking event.
Personalized note cards will make you stand out because most people send e-mails or form letters. By taking the time to handwrite a note, it will show that you have made an effort to write a meaningful message.
Become a Subject Expert
Another great way for people to remember you is if you become a subject expert.
By showing your expertise on a certain topic, you will become a resource for others. When people start coming to you for resources and advice, you will know that you have done a good job of branding yourself. If people dont think highly of you, they wont use you as a resource or refer others to you.
One way to brand yourself as a subject expert is to create a Web site, which provides resources about your subject of interest. You need to let people know about this site by telling them when you meet them, handing out special business cards or mentioning it in some of the local list servs.
Your own electronic newsletter also helps. Your e-newsletter should focus on providing valuable content such as industry resources, articles, events and links. Try to personalize the newsletter by including original content such as tips, advice and articles.
Whenever you meet people, ask them if they want to be signed up for your newsletter. At the same time, make sure to have a sign-up box on your site so people can sign themselves up. Send out the newsletter regularly (either weekly, biweekly or monthly).
You want people to remember you. Stay in front of them.
Write regular articles for a local publication to show that you have expertise about a certain topic. Because it may take some time for a publication to accept your articles, be persistent and convince them that youre an expert. Tell them about your expertise and what you have already done (such as your Web site and newsletter).
Produce your own events to share your knowledge with people.
It doesnt matter what type of event you hold so long as you provide some value to attendees.
Final Thought
Its important that you pay attention to your personal image when you are networking.
Your firms image is important, too, but you need to make people remember you for the long term. Take the time and effort to develop your own brand. Because youre the first point of contact for people when you meet them, make sure to make yourself memorable.

I wonder if I can classify myself as a veteran homeschooler? My oldest child is almost 13 and she has always been homeschooled. Do those tiny tot years count, the years of just reading and reading, the years of dress up and make believe? And then finally the first day dawned when we started school in Kindergarten. Now as she enters Junior High years, still at home, with my other three children following behind, I realize that homeschooling is often more about the parent than the childso here are 5 things that homeschooling my children has taught me.
Lesson #1 - Formal academics is better delayed until a full 6 years has been enjoyed by child and parent in a learning rich environment.
When our children are young, the majority of their days should be spent in the outdoors in fine weather. They should chase butterflies, discover ants, build sand castles, climb on jungle gyms and enjoy using their bodies to climb and run and jump. They should also be drawn alongside their parents as they go about their daily business. As the parents move through their daily rhythms so much can be learnt a by a child. A good work ethic is one of these lessons to a child as mom goes about her daily housekeeping work with a happy heart. All the time that parent and child are together is time spent engaging the heart as discussion happens casually between them.
The moment a parent substitutes this wonderful life giving relationship with a workbook a process is started that only speeds up with time. If you start very early with books and formal lessons the chances are that when your child reaches 8 or 9 they will be burnt out, as will you. But now you cannot turn around and send them to play on the jungle gym for a yearthat time has passed.
Lesson #2 - Life experiences and good books should make up the bulk of the learning for the elementary years.
Reading good literature to your children is one of the best investments of time you will ever make into your childrens lives. Reading opens the way for so many discussions, it sparks imagination, it feeds the childs mind with ideas, it fuels creativity and it allows children to think great thoughts and about great people and their accomplishments.
Life experience, when it is not busy-ness for the sake of filling time, is another valuable learning tool. Outings to educational places like museums, galleries, nature spots and other such places are wonderful ways for a child to drink in history, beauty and experience.
Lesson #3 - Do not cram your schedule so full that you continually feel like you are playing catch up.
Many homeschoolers feel the need to keep up with peers in school thus they send their children to all the extra murals and sports that are available without stopping to assess whether this sport or activity is a right fit for their child or will indeed help to further their childs particular bent in life. We cannot compare our families to those who have their children in school. We are walking two totally separate paths.
Others also choose very steep academic curriculum which keep children and teens busy from morning until long after lunch. Some call it accelerated learning, others just dont know when to stop adding in stuff. But the busier we get, the less time there is for life and all of its wonders.
Lesson #4 - Comparisons are unhealthy
Above I spoke about comparing what we are doing in our homeschooling homes to those who have their children in school. There is another more concerning area. In homeschooling there are many different school of thought ranging from the formal textbook homeschoolers through to the proper unschoolers.
In between these two points you have hundreds of different philosophies and methods.
Added to that you have homeschoolers who believe that you should have 15 children and those who believe 2 is enough. You have homeschoolers who believe all women should only wear dresses and others who believe that family devotion time with father leading is the only sign of a healthy family.
The debate here is not any of these thingsit is to say that you need to walk the journey that you and your family have been called to walk and not concern yourself with the images made by man as to how you or your family should look or what the product of their learning should be.
A warning thought: Do not confuse grace with licentiousness. Be sure that you remain close to the Lord in all you do, learn to hear His voice and obey it.
Lesson #5 - Mom must care for herself and her marriage
I like to make my most important points lastso I hope you have got all the way to this pointmoms this is for you. Your children WILL grow up, they WILL start their own lives and you WILL be left with your husband one day.
Be sure to feed your relationship with him. Find little ways everyday to choose to place him before your children. Put aside the best portion of the meal for him, send him a love note in his lunch or via emailAnd make time weekly or monthly for a date night. These do not have to be expensive but just choose to spend time alone together.
Mom, without you the home, family and homeschooling does not work. Be sure to find a way to get some time out for yourself whether it is scrapbooking, gym, art or sleeping late one morning a weekendfind what it is that will rejuvenate you and grab it full on. It may be a nightly walk around the block before rush hour with dinner and baths when children are little or like my current passion a Monday night bike ride in the mountains now that my children are olderbut do be sure to take time our for yourself in small ways everyday.
This was just a quick summary of a few lessons from my own homeschooling walk, perhaps they will bring encouragement and guidelines to yours.

Budget Web Hosting
So you want to start an online based business and want to do it on a budget? Of course you do. We all do not have unlimited funds like some of these fortune 500 companies. Most people who start an online business start with very small capital, under $100 for example. The first thing anyone needs to do to start any online venture is to buy a domain name and build a website. However, once you have your domain name and website you need to host the website and that can get tricky. Youll see $6.95 a month to host ONE website. Now, you may think that is cheap, but with an online business you are going to be making dozens of websites. What is $6.95 * 12 or more? You tell me. Not cheap at all.
So you immediately narrow your choices to web hosting companies that let you succeed on a budget. Here is what you need to look for:
Multiple or unlimited sites/domains hosted for a cheap monthly price. Usually under $12. Sufficient Bandwidth. In case you do not know what Bandwidth is I will tell you. Bandwidth is the amount of data transferred from the website to the user visiting your site. So the more data a user transmits from your site; ex. Downloading pictures or files, the more bandwidth is used. Reliable web servers and datacenters. Datacenters are dedicated buildings that host web servers so you have sustained service forever. 24/7 support Fantastico script installation. Mysql databases, PHP, Perl, and Email. All features us as webmasters need to succeed in an online business. If you do not know about them you will surely learn.
Like I said, finding a quality web host can be very hard work because there are so many wannabe companies out there just trying to make a dollar. You never know what you are going to get for the price and the service. Just make sure you look for the above information when searching for a web host.
As a bonus some web hosting companies will offer discount coupons for their service so you can get the first month free or like $50 off for a year. Here is a website that has, in my opinion the tope three web hosting companies on the net reviewed. Check it out.

July 30th, 2008 by admin in Web Hosting Review
For most of us who are hunting for a suitable web hosting provider, we usually look at the price factor first. This is especially true of dedicated versus shared web hosting services. While dedicated hosting has its own unique advantages, usually there is a large discrepancy in the pricing between shared and dedicated hosting services. Thats one reason why most people prefer these web hosting providers.
One of the first things you need to consider while choosing a shared hosting solution is the bandwidth being offered. If the bandwidth is less, it can not only means downtime issues but also that your site will not be making any revenue during this time. If you have a site with e-commerce functionality, then this can have serious adverse impact on your profits. Therefore when choosing among shared web hosting providers, go for one that offers a good bandwidth.
Your shared hosting solution also needs to have a traffic counter that can help you determine how much traffic arrives at your site. Most shared web hosting providers will offer such a service along with the package. If you happen to have just a handful of visitors to your site and have good conversion ratios then you can always downgrade your package to save money. Your shared web hosting provider also needs to have good quality and efficient servers. Their servers need to be reliable with quick response times. This implies good system performance as well as enhanced processing power. Many shared hosting providers offer good servers that have zero downtime.
Another common mistake made by most customers is that they forget to ask their host providers the level of security software they have installed. Therefore, while looking for a provider, be sure to check the extent of security they have as well as the last time they upgraded their security systems.

The market is filled with Discount kitchen materials today. This is because; the modern Kitchen is not just an area for cooking in. It encompasses a whole host of activities that require allocation of space in this area. Whether the kitchen is the modern tiny room of contemporary apartments or luxurious areas of large homes, it is important to pay attention to the utilities, decor, furniture and overall aesthetics.
I will discuss the topics in detail below.
The main operations in the kitchen are the preparation and subsequent cooking of food items. This requires a platform. Varieties of Discount materials of this kind are available and can be chosen to suit the ambience. A platform can be designed with a host of materials which include machine made materials like laminates, stainless steel, and natural material like stone, ceramic tiles or wood.
Storage is another important aspect to ensure that everything has a specific location and avoid clutter. Discount Kitchen materials like Overhead cabinets, below counter, wall mounted and free standing units are all on offer. The finishes speak an eloquent design language they can be laminated, of polished hardwoods and glass lending a beauty to the volume contained within. The classy hardware adds class and makes efficiency a part of the routine.
Kitchen equipment has evolved and makes life much easier without the heat and sweat of hot stove. The discount materials such as Fridges, Ovens, dishwashers and food processors enable to create magic at the press of a button. This makes the kitchen less messy and the kitchen activities less time consuming. Ordinary sinks too come in different shapes, materials and colors, apart from the classy stainless steel sinks.
The mundane kitchen is elevated to a room that epitomizes sophistication and beauty with
the finishes. The flooring available brightens the space. Open plans usually
have a breakfast counter between the dining and kitchen areas. These can be cladded with superior quality glass tiles, or inlaid with expensive veneers. Specially designed seating creates an impact. Bar stools for the counter and chairs for the breakfast table inside the kitchen should be
designed to make mealtime more comfortable and a pleasure.
The colors should make the space seem airy and enhance the ambience. Natural illumination from adequate fenestration is a necessity. The norm is to have light shades to achieve brightness but by introducing small aspects of dark and contrast colors, drama and interest can be created.
The kitchen today works as a multifunctional space. Thus a tabletop for kids doing their assignment is a necessity. An area to read the newspaper with the morning cuppa or work on a presentation at the laptop is an option. Connections to music systems are required providing relaxing atmosphere. A wall mounted telephone is a savior when long telephone conversations interrupt cooking. These materials also include Designer chimneys. It is used to eliminate fumes and odour, ventilations fans to provide requisite air changes in the space and appropriate light fixtures for the artificial illumination of the area, all add to the beauty of it where the work is tiring but with all the modern amenities and aesthetics kitchen can be made pleasant place and kitchen work a pleasurable experience.

What if everyone understood the value of networking? What if all small businesses could network in their communities? What if small business people were careful to get involved, join clubs and become active members in their chamber of commerce? What if all small businesses understood that often it is easier to network than to throw money at a problem? What if small business people realized that sponsoring a Little League Team in their towns made good sense for their businesses and expanded their customer base? What if small business failure rates were much lower that 5:1 and that most Small Business Loans were paid off and not in default? What if we took all the small business people and helped them understand the value of networking? What if no one had to lose their nest egg simply for chasing their American Dream of owning their own small business? What if folks who signed up at the local Chamber of Commerce went to more than the average of only two-meetings in two years? What if everyone in business became actively involved in all aspects of their community and used this involvement to recruit great employees and spent a little of their hard earned monies giving back and supporting the community that supported them? What if you did this in your small business, how much difference would it make to your success? Think on this.

I write this letter today struggling with sadness, for we have lost a beloved member of our family. Dear, sweet Ruth, my friend, my client, my mentor, recently left us for another place, after 90 years of gracing us with her presence.
I met Ruth in 1983, all 4 feet ten inches and 95 pounds of her. She came to see me because she was retiring from her long career as a bookkeeper for a successful insurance agency in town.
Over the years we visited each other on a regular basis, on occasion even sharing a wonderful dinner or lunch she prepared at her home.
My most memorable moment, of which there were many, came during the time known as “Black Monday”, October 19, 1987. That was the day the Dow Jones Industrials crashed, down over 500 points, from 2700 to 2200, all in one day! That would be the equivalent of a free fall in today of nearly 2800 points.
Even though I thought of myself as a grizzled veteran with my seven years of experience in financial services, I found out I was not experienced at all, nor was I prepared for this kind of event.
As I recall I spent most of the morning holding my head in my hands, but finally bucked up enough to do what I knew I had to do.
I picked up the phone and began calling my clients. My plan was to explain that which I did not understand, and reassure those who were almost certainly upset and concerned.
After a number of calls and conversations I finally came to Ruth, because alphabetically she was well down the list. She answered and I began my monologue, but about one minute into it she said, very sharply I might add, “Stephen, stop right there!”
Now the only person who ever called me Stephen was my mother, so naturally this stopped me in my tracks. Ruth went on to tell me she had experienced and lived through a great deal in her life, including the ‘Great Depression’, world war, the Communist and nuclear scare of the 1950’s, massive demonstrations and protests in the 60’s, political upheaval in the 70’s and well, a little old stock market correction in the 1980’s just was not about to unnerve her after the lifetime of events she had experienced.
We talked a bit more then I went on to call the rest of my clients, most certainly in a calmer frame of mind than before my conversation with Ruth.
I have thought about our talk many times since and have come to believe Ruth must have heard the fear and uncertainty in my voice and decided to give me some perspective, which I sorely needed.
I believe to this very day she helped me get over being pulled emotionally one way then another when the markets go into steep decline. I can not say I have overcome it completely, but she helped provide the perspective I so needed, and she unknowingly helped shape how I handle stock market declines, as well as the rest of the unexpected twists and turns in life. I will always be grateful for her wisdom, and her caring.
So now as I say goodbye to our Dear Ruth, although diminutive in stature, she will remain always, a giant in my heart.

Let us not forget (Deuteronomy 4:9).What a gift we have with a good memory! Without memory, we would be unable to recall the many blessings we have received from both God and man.
