There are many different signs and symptoms that show whether a person is a victim of alcohol and drug abuse. Some are obvious, others are not. The one thing that is for sure; they are all signs of trouble.
I will go over the main ones that point to drug and alcohol addiction.
- An alcoholic can easily be detected by the perpetual smell of alcohol on the concerned person. Not too hard there.
- Sudden mood swings or temporary changes in behavioral patterns can usually be associated with an addiction. Many times going without drugs or alcohol will cause these behavior problems.
- Poor performance in all areas can sometimes be affiliated with drug and alcohol abuse. If they were once good at something, and you see them falling apart, this could be a sign.
- Avoidance of older acquaintances can be a major symptom in most all drug and alcohol abuse cases. They dont want the old friend to see what they have become, how they act, or how they look now.
- Thefts and other forms of crime can also be a huge tip off in the case of an addiction. An addict will steal or break the law to get whatever they need.
When all of these symptoms are combined you know you have got an addict on your hands. They have most likely lost all control of their actions. The drug has taken over, and they just cannot make rational decisions for themselves. Get them some help; they will thank you in the long run.

August 31st, 2008 by admin in Networking For Business
The standard thing for an entrepreneur is to work hard, please his customers/buyers and expand his industry. But this is said easier then it is done. There comes a point in every business, once your reputation has been formed, and your client list expanded, where you are going to have to do a bit of networking.
This can involve networking with your competitors, not only to see what they are getting up to, but also to help one another out. There might be times when you dont have all the resources and might want to include your competition to help out with certain angles of a service or product.
You might not be able to fulfil an order or require a bit of back up. Either way, being on friendly terms with the enemy might not be such a bad thing. As they say, Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer.
Another form of networking isnt essentially networking with people of ones own profession, but rather of people that are on the same level. Knowing fellow business people that are in the same group might help when you need a random favour, or people to invest in your ideas.
People might be able to link you up or advise you on areas that you dont know anything about, such as computer programmes or real estate. Because they are on the same level and you have found a relationship, trusting them with advice is better then a random stranger. Plus it works vica versa. They might need your help and you can gather up some favours.
Sharing business and advertising ideas is also another reason why people network. By getting to know others that have already paved the way, working out what their mistakes where or what they did right, will be good knowledge for you.
Ideally you want the relationship with fellow net-workers to be a mutually beneficial relationship. This is quite rare and doesnt always end up that way, however these are the goals. Networking is about being genuine and authentic. Building trust is an important factor. You wouldnt really want to help someone or take the advice from someone that you dont believe in.
You shouldnt, also, just keep in touch with people for the sake of networking. If their industry is really far from yours, and you have nothing in common with regards to ideas or clients, then rather let them go and concentrate on groups that you can offer something to and they can offer something in return.
Generally networking gets done through an event or knowing someone. The masters if you will call them, occasional will have dinners or meetings where they will invite people purely to network. These are the real opportunities in the business world and its all about making the most of them.

There are many Americans out there who love to write, but with the strict standard and guidelines applied by publishers many have turned instead to writing and putting out their ideas via blogs. Blogging is now widely accepted and popular, and there are no strict editors or publishing guidelines, you simply need to write. The only drawback with this publication is that you need to write well about the things that excite you. Many people love to read blogs about their favorite topics or peoples lives. Basically a blog gives you the opportunity to do something that you get a lot of pleasure out of, whilst having the potential to earn you a little cash on the side!
One of the best things about blogging is that you have the opportunity to write about what you are passionate about, things that get you excited. The other bonus of this is that if you are any good at it there is a chance you can make a little cash from it as well. If you are serious about blogging, here are some tips it pays to know:
1. You must work hard at your blog. If you are choosing a career you know that you have to work for the rewards of your chosen path, and this is the case with blogging. You should find out what your readers like and what is interesting and diverting for them. To do this takes research and taking the time to find out just what your readers want from the blog.
2. Choose a subject you love to write about. It seems simple, but the thing about writing what you love is that you can write so many more exciting and interesting things when you are passionate about something. If you enjoy what you are writing about then you are more likely to do that writing more often and your enthusiasm will draw others towards it. Also posting regularly keeps blog readers visiting your site more often.
3. Write things that are upbeat. If there is a positive enthusiasm shines through in your writing then it is going to appeal more to your potential readers.
4. Be consistent. If you are self disciplined and you are dedicated to writing then you will do a better job and in turn you will be more likely to attract more traffic and earn more money.
5. Don’t take it personally. If you occasionally get any negative feedback, then take it on board if you really think its true, but approach things with a sense of humor. A blog is after all a public forum and there may be some people who don’t want to know about your interests.
Writing can be a positive experience and you can be more knowledgeable and enriched from doing it. Do not be overcome by small hurdles along the way, it is a learning experience. Be true to yourself, make sure you write well and keep some of these tips in mind as you get started. You will soon be on your way to making a career out of blogging and you will be delighted when you start to see people responding to your work. So get out there and start writing!

There is a saying It is not how much knowledge you know, it is the people that you know that will help you to succeed. I agreed that knowledge is essential, but knowing the right people and developing good rapport with them is the key to success.
You will not be able to know everything is this world. There will come a time when you need to seek help from people who know better than you at a certain thing. Let me ask you, if you are not in a good term with someone that you wish to seek help from, do you think that person will help you? I personally do not think so.
In the business world, you will need to develop rapport with people. When you develop rapport with someone, he or she will feel that you are connected with him or her. Once both of you are connected, negotiation will be more easy. The quote by Abraham Lincoln basically sums this up If you would win a man to your cause, first convince him that you are his sincere friend.
Building rapport with people will not only benefit you in the business world. It will serve you good in other aspect of your life as well. Just imagine that you can build a good rapport with the girl of your dream, anytime, anywhere. It will definitely increase your chance of succeeding at wooing her right?
One of the techniques to build rapport is to get into the world of the other person. Mirror their action, mirror the way they speak. Try these out, and you will find that you will be communicating better with other people, and thus building strong rapport with anyone that you meet in the future.

The roots of drug abuse are often found in a disturbed childhood and puberty; if not; then what starts off often as an ostentation of respective macho-ness grows into a compulsive habit within no time. Perhaps it is the only field where the teenagers and the young adults never fall short of ambition. For the aged, it is a different story altogether; while some begin because of unmatched wealth accumulated all in a sudden; others start off to seek an easy refuge from psychological, sociological and finance-related problems. However, all roads lead to Rome and all these so-called Romans must be brought under drug abuse treatment.
Prior to commencing further upon the details regarding drug abuse treatment, it is vital to differentiate between a drug abuser and a drug addict. This is chiefly due to the fact that what may easily allay the agonies of the former may not at all have an effect on the other. Drug abuse treatment can be a mild process or a severe one, depending upon the intensity of the use.
Drug abuse treatment is the last refuge sought when a certain individual starts showing certain symptoms including irritability, insomnia, convulsions, anxiety, paranoia, violent behavior, memory loss, learning problems, increased heart rate, lethargy and panic attacks due to no apparent reasons. Psychoactive or prescription, the general symptoms do not vary much but one must also be aware that psychoactive drug abuse treatment has some difference with prescription drug abuse treatment while involving medicament though the basic psychological drug abuse treatment is more or less the same.
Drug abuse treatment must start at home, for no counselor can be as compassionate as the nearer and dearer ones to the abuser. Compassion plays a large role and can bring forth positive outcomes if the problem is in its initial stage; the developing stages can be handled by reducing slowly the quantity in a careful and discreet manner. Besides, getting the victim under drug abuse treatment interested in constructive and recreational activities diverts his/her mind from the compulsive urge. But this kind of drug abuse treatment is effective for the victims who have developed a psychological dependence; for the ones with physical dependence, professionals should administer drug abuse treatment besides doctors with specialization in the field of drug abuse treatment.

Homeschooling can be an expensive choice for parents. There are many expenditures that need to be taken into account and the financial burden can be heavy particularly if only one parent is working.
However, many families have chosen homeschooling and found the homeschooling experience to be rewarding and fruitful.
Though homeschooling is expensive, there are some tips that will help you to reduce the cost of homeschooling and help ease your financial problems.
1. Learning materials
You can obtain your childs textbooks and other learning materials easily without necessarily buying them. You can always borrow them from the library. Your local schools may be able to lend them or sell them to you at a cheap price and you can go online and download the educational materials and print it out yourself.
Visit the homeschooling forums online and just ask where you can ask free or cheap learning materials. Youll be sure to find some tips.
2. Educational Field Trips
Educational trips can mean visits to the local zoo or science center. You can teach your child about animals and plants in your local garden or the local garden community.
You could teach history by visiting historical sites. You could teach culture by visiting other cultural sites or watching plays etc. All these are usually free or for a cheap price.
3. Be part of a community
There should be many local homeschooling communities in your local neighbourhood. By joining these homeschooling communities, you can pool their resources and shared it among the members.
For example, a homeschooling community can approach the local school and ask for donations for used textbooks, writing materials and other items such as whiteboards, desks and chairs etc.
Or the homeschooling community can pool their financial resources together and negotiate with a publisher for cheaper prices. Since you have more bargaining power as a community rather than an individual, you stand a greater chance of successfully negotiating a deal with the publisher.
If you do not have a homeschooling community in your local area, try online homeschooling communities and forums. They offer support and guidance and often free homeschooling resources are available
I hope I have given you some ideas on how to save money when homeschooling. As long as you are creative, you can find more ways to reduce the cost of homeschooling.

If you have ever had to stop and ask yourself if you have a drinking problem, then you probably do. If anyone else has every told you drink too much, then chances are you do.
There are many tools available right at your fingertips to yell you if you have been drinking too much. All over the internet are alcohol self awareness test which will help give you a good indicator of if your drinking is a problem. Other things that you can look at are if you constantly crave alcohol and feel like you can not make it through the day without having a drink. Do you feel physically sick if you had not had a drink in some time?
Other symptoms you can look at when it comes to your drinking are if you ever felt the need to cut down on your drinking? Do you get angry when other people bring up your drinking? If the answer to both of these is yes, then you might want to contact your doctor for help.
Now what should we look for in other people who we might suspect have a drinking problem. For some we might be able to pick up on the signs before it becomes a problem. Noticing someone drinking more heavily then they have before might clue you into a problem in the making. Other signs of alcoholism and alcohol abuse are lack of interest in activities that might have once brought your loved ones interest, and centering recreational activities around drinking, or having uncharacteristically reckless behavior.
You also want to look for the four symptoms that the NIAAA (National Institute of Alcohol abuse and alcoholism)has stated indicates that alcohol addiction is apparent.
The first is craving. If you notice yourself or your loved ones having an uncontrollable urge to drink this should wave a red flag. Alcoholism has been defined as having a strong dependency on alcohol and a strong urge to drink. If you notice someone who can not get the thought of alcohol out of their mind, this could be a good indication of something serious.
Alcoholics also tend to loss control when they start drinking. If you find that once you start drinking, you can not stop it or see a loved one who behaves in the same fashion, get help. Also notice if you or someone you suspect might be an alcoholic suffer from withdrawal symptoms. Withdrawal symptoms happen once you stop drinking. They happen when you decide to quit drinking and when you stop drinking due to sleep or because you are unable to drink at that time. These symptoms include the shakes, irritability, and sweating. You might find that having a drink is the only way to “cure” these withdrawal symptoms.
Lastly look at the amount of alcohol being consume. If you find yourself needing to drink more alcohol to achieve the same effect you are use to, talk to someone right away. If you notice a friend or family member needing to drink more than they use to, chances are they might be losing control of their drinking.
If you are an alcoholic the choice to stop drinking is yours. If you are educated on the signs and symptoms of alcoholism, you might stand a good chance at getting yourself help. If you know someone who displays any of these signs, talk to them or to someone who can help you get the message through to them. Even though they may think you are trying to hurt them, you are probably saving their life.

The craving for alcohol experienced by those suffering from alcoholism is often so severe that the individual feels they need alcohol as if it were food or water. They do not feel they can go a day, or in some extreme cases, an hour, without consuming alcohol.
Alcoholism is not characterized by the type of alcohol consumed or how much alcohol is needed to satisfy the craving. Alcoholism is characterized mostly by the loss of control. Alcoholics often build up a tolerance to alcohol over time. This means they need more and more alcohol to satisfy their need for it. As they consume more and more alcohol, serious health problems manifest themselves. Alcoholism also affects the sufferer psychologically, as well as physically.
Alcoholism differs from alcohol abuse in that a person who abuses alcohol does not display a loss of control over their drinking. An individual who abuses alcohol may act irresponsibly while under the influence. They may also put themselves and others in danger by driving or operating machinery while drinking. Relationships may suffer, as with alcoholism and work performance may become careless. While alcohol abuse differs from alcoholism, it can be a serious problem and should not be ignored.
There are many symptoms of alcoholism. Many of the symptoms of alcohol abuse are also displayed by those suffering from alcoholism. Some symptoms include drinking alone or secretly (hiding the fact that they are drinking), memory loss (also known as “blacking out”), ritually drinking at certain times during the day and becoming irritable when this ritual is disturbed, feeling the need to drink to feel normal, loss of interest in relationships or activities that were once enjoyed, experiencing financial, marital, or legal problems caused by drinking, building a tolerance to alcohol or experiencing withdrawal symptoms if alcohol is not available. These symptoms are just a few of the possible symptoms that could be displayed by alcoholics.
Studies show that some individuals are more likely to experience alcoholism at some point in their lives than others. For example, genetics can play a role in whether or not a person is likely to be drawn to alcohol. Often the children of alcoholics will have a higher risk of one day becoming an alcoholic themselves. Psychological problems also increase the risk for alcoholism. Individuals suffering from depression, attention deficit disorder, bipolar disorder and many other psychological disorders often turn to alcohol to make them feel better or ease their suffering. This often turns into a dependency.
There are many health problems that are caused by alcoholism. Alcoholism depresses the central nervous system. Over time, alcoholism can cause fatigue, paralysis of the muscles surrounding the eyes and short-term memory loss. Other, more life-threatening health problems caused by alcoholism include cirrhosis of the liver, high blood pressure, heart failure, stroke, gastrointestinal problems, neurological disorders, sexual dysfunction and bone loss. Alcoholism also increases the risk of certain cancers, such as cancer of the esophagus, larynx, liver and colon. If left untreated, alcoholism can lead to death.

Here are some healthy dieting tips to help you lose weight, stay fit, and live longer:
Drink adequate water. One cup of water for every waking hour during the day would be optimal for healthy weight loss.
Never eat until you are very full. Rather, you should stop eating when you are satisfied. This way you can ensure that you body is able to fully digest the food that you have consumed, and not end up with any excess leftover to be stored as fat. And equally important; Do not go the other extreme by starving either. Starvation will backfire and only sabotage your diet plan, not to mention that starvation causes your metabolism to slow down, which effectively counteracts the effectiveness of eating less to begin with.
Stop eating at least 3 hours before you go to bed at night. Ideally, you should go to bed right at the time that your body has finished digesting all of the food in your stomach, but just before you start to feel hungry again. This way, you can spend the next several hours resting without your body having to process food in your sleep, which since you are not really expending the energy over night, will end up just being stored as fat.
Get adequate sleep at night. Studies show that there is a correlation between obesity and lack of sleep. Not only is this because your body feels more stress during the day, which compels you to eat more, but your body needs the time to sleep in order to properly and fully metabolize and shed calories.
Incorporate at least 5 servings of fruits and / or vegetables into your diet each day. Alternatively, you should aim to consume at least 25 grams of fiber if you are a female and 38 grams of fiber if you are a male, each day. It just so happens ot be that fruits and vegetables are good sources of fiber, but other foods such as nuts and whole grain foods also contain fiber. Fiber is essential for cleansing your digestive system and assisting in the digestive process. Not oly that, but fiber makes you feel full faster, and thus has a positive impact on keeping you from overeating.
Just by adopting these five simple healthy dieting habits, you will experience a safer, more satisfying, and sustainable weight loss that will last you for life.

Osteoarthritis is the most common type of arthritis in older people. It is sometimes known as degenerative joint disease because in Osteoarthritis the cartilage of the joints continues to degenerated causing pain, stiffness and swelling as bone scrapes over bone.
People often have limited movement and pain but there is no redness, heat nor does it affect the internal organs like other arthritic diseases do. Osteoarthritis is the most frequent cause of disability in older adults. It affects more men before age 45 and more women after age 45. The disease causes not only changes in the person abilities but also their lifestyle and finances.
The joints commonly affected are the knees, hips, hands and spine. Patients start to notice a difference in their comfort level as they rise to standing from a sitting position, in the morning getting out of bed or after exercise.
Warning signs of Osteoarthritis include crackling joints, stiffness after getting up from a chair or from bed in the morning, pain, swelling, and tenderness. In Osteoarthritis there isnt redness or heat from the joint.
Doctors dont have a single test that will identify this disease. They rely on several methods to identify the changes and determine a course of treatment.
They will take an indepth clinical history to determine when the symptoms started, how theyve been treated thus far and how they affect the patients lifestyle.
Doctors will also include a physical exam, x-rays and other tests. X-rays arent conclusive since most people over 65 have osteoarthritis in the joints but are not symptomatic. Blood tests can help to rule out other diseases that cause joint pain and swelling. Joint aspiration may also be performed to evaluate the fluid in the joint.
Osteoarthritis happens in the hands greater in women than men. There also appears to be a genetic factor as it seems to run in families. Medication, splinting and moist heat give patients with arthritis in their hands the most relief.
Osteoarthritis in the knees is very common since the knees are the largest weight bearing joint and therefore commonly affected. The arthritis is not symmetrical and can occur in one knee or the other but not usually both at the same time. The knee becomes stiff, swollen and painful but isnt red or hot. The pain can lead to significant disability and a disruption in the patients lifestyle.
Therapy for Osteoarthritis in the knee often includes medications, necessary weight loss, walking aids and in extreme cases a joint replacement. Over weight and obese patient have an increased rate of Osteoarthritis. Decreasing the weight load that the knees and hips carry will treat the pain and disability of the disease. In fact, people who are over weight will decrease their chances of having painful Osteoarthritis just by maintaining a healthy body weight.
Osteoarthritis in the hip can be felt as pain in the hip, knees, groin, inner thigh or buttocks. When arthritis settles in the hip it can cause stiffness, pain and severe disability. The pain limits movement and bending which makes dressing and caring for the feet a real challenge.
Patients with Osteoarthritis in the hip often respond well to medications, exercise, walking aids and in severe cases a joint replacement. Again, patients with Osteoarthritis in the hip respond very well to weight loss.
Spinal Osteoarthritis may cause numbness or weakness in the arms or legs. Patients often report relief when sleeping on a firm mattress, using back support when sitting in a chair, and warm moist heat. Exercise can be incorporated to strengthen the back and abdominal muscles.
Osteoarthritis commonly affects four different joints in the body; knees, hips, hands and spine. With the proper identification and therapy people suffering from arthritis can delay the progression and pain of the disease.
