I started my blog in late August of 2007. I did it because I was encouraged to in order to give me some sort of presence on the internet. I am not sure what that meant at the time but now it is very clear to me.
Blogging is a great way to show who you are and what you stand for. Some people blog for fun and just write posts to represent what they learned that day, were feeling that day, ran into that day, etc. I have discovered a few blogs that were just for fun and now have a sort of cult readership. If you can write in a way to bring people in who can't wait to read what you are writing then you should really try to start a blog. You don't know unless you try and I am absolutely the best example of that.
I started blogging to increase my presence on the internet because I had no presence whatsoever. My first articles posted on my blog were bought by an article writing service (and a good one indeed). At some point though I knew I needed to start writing myself and then it all started happening.
I write the same way I speak (mostly) and try to share the general excitement I feel about things as well as any other emotions that are going on at the time.
I also try to show a sense of partnership and leadership when I write and I do feel that translates to people who read my blog. I guess loving what you are doing shows in your writing as well.
If you are starting out and want to initiate yourself into this business, please start a blog. It is the first major step into propelling you into where you really want to go.
