While some people in the world are known as the Golden Boy or Girl, there are those who bow their head in shame, fearing they will be a failure for the rest of their lives. In actuality, the difference between the person with low self-esteem and the continuously successful simply involves following a consistent path.
At some point in time, everyone has experienced the warm feeling of sweet success. It may have been the personal triumph of abandoning your walker as a baby or acing your first Biology test. No matter who you are, a proud smile or sense of accomplishment has been felt at least once.
Now back to what separates the successful from the average Joe or Jane. Successful people have tasted the fruit of their labors and developed a ravenous appetite that cannot be easily quieted. They search for all things that will satisfy their appetite for success, tackling their obstacles, besting their competition and bulldozing barriers. They consistently seek out the things that allow them to continue on the path towards success. Each meal (goal) they devour, brings them closer and closer to reaching the personal goals they have set for themselves.
When it comes to achieving personal goals, consistency is key. For some, it is rather easy to do something well once in a lifetime. You may finally beat your brother in a game of bowling after many, many years of trying. After a dare, you might even overcome your fear of snakes once and touch the skin of a python.
But, the real strength in character and confidence comes when you can muster a repeat performance. Can you touch a boa constrictor or even go as far as baby-sit the reptile pet for your friend? Do you have the confidence to challenge your brother again?
The consistency in overcoming your personal fears and doubts is what separates the successful from the average individual. Whenever you falter in your quest to achieve success, the next person is lurking in the shadows to take your place, as well as glory. In this cruel, fast-paced world of business, there is no room for lack of consistency.
If you feel becoming consistent is a far-fetched reality to achieve, you have overlooked the daily activities you participate in, which are conducted on a routine basis. These include the common processes of eating, sleeping, and drinking. We drink when we are thirsty, eat when hungry and sleep when we have run out of energy. Successful individuals take as much stock in achieving their personal goals, as they do with the necessities in life.
Those who are consistent in their efforts towards success often prosper throughout life, while others who procrastinate and lag behind are left to themselves, as they eventually waste their potential. How many people have you met who tell tales of what they could have been?
Successful individuals, such as the rich and famous perform on a routine basis. Their consistency is seen through their actions as they continue to make money with their talent, skills and effort.
An example of this can be seen through the consistency of a good actress. She works at her craft, often challenging herself with a multitude of roles that showcase her ability to play anything. Her efforts are rewarded through movie award nominations and recognition within the film industry. Before long, she is the one that top directors and producers call upon to bring their scripts to life.
This attitude can be used in all realms of and approaches towards business and self-satisfaction. Being consistent throughout life and work allows individuals to achieve their dreams, desires and goals in a manner that withstands the test of time.
